The three major U.S. stock indices rose, with the Nasdaq hitting another record high

On September 9 (Tuesday) local time, the three major U.S. stock indices edged higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.43% to 45,711.34 points; the S&P 500 rose by 0.27% to 6,512.61 points; and the Nasdaq gained 0.37% to 21,879.49 points, hitting a new intraday record high of 21,891.42 points.

Most large-cap tech stocks advanced, with Google up over 2%, Meta, Nvidia, and Amazon each rising more than 1%, Tesla up 0.16%, and Microsoft edging up 0.04%.

Apple’s stock fell over 1%. At 1:00 AM Beijing time on Wednesday, Apple held its autumn product launch event themed "Far Out," unveiling multiple models including the iPhone 17.

Bank stocks collectively rose, with Goldman Sachs up nearly 3%, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo gaining over 2%, and JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Bank of America up more than 1%.

Energy stocks were mixed: ExxonMobil rose 0.75%, Chevron gained 0.54%, ConocoPhillips added 0.53%, while Occidental Petroleum fell 0.54%.

Airline stocks declined across the board: Southwest Airlines dropped over 2%, United Airlines fell nearly 2%, and American Airlines and Delta Air Lines both declined more than 1%.

Most chip stocks advanced: the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 0.18%, with Advanced Micro Devices and Micron Technology both up over 2%. TSMC and Nvidia gained over 1%, while Broadcom fell more than 2% and Microchip Technology declined 0.83%.
