The 15th Meeting of the China-Australia Joint Agricultural Committee Held in Australia
Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Zhang Zhili co-chaired the 15th Meeting of the China-Australia Joint Agricultural Committee with Adam Fennessy, Secretary of the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, in Brisbane, Australia. The meeting reviewed progress in agricultural cooperation since the 14th meeting in 2023 and discussed key issues of mutual concern and future cooperation priorities.
Zhang Zhili stated that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-Australia agricultural cooperation has steadily developed and achieved practical results. China is willing to expand areas of agricultural interaction with Australia under existing mechanisms, deepen cooperation in agricultural technology, trade and investment, climate-smart agriculture, fisheries, and other areas, and jointly implement future agricultural cooperation priorities effectively. He proposed establishing a specialized working group on food security under the framework of the Joint Agricultural Committee to facilitate institutional communication on related issues.
Adam Fennessy spoke highly of Australia-China agricultural cooperation and endorsed the proposal to expand bilateral collaboration. He expressed hope that both sides would continue sharing information and progress in relevant fields and work together to implement the consensus reached during the meeting.
After the meeting, the two sides signed the China-Australia Action Plan on Promoting Agricultural Cooperation (2025–2029).
