Recalling 167,000 Power Banks: ROMOSS Still Suspends Production!
According to disclosures from the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), in response to multiple incidents of spontaneous combustion involving power banks in the first half of this year, SAMR established a supervision team for the power bank recall. This team was dispatched to Guangdong, Jiangsu, and other regions for supervision, and market regulatory departments in 11 provinces (including Guangdong, Hunan, and Beijing) were organized to carry out clue investigation, defect analysis, and recall operations. Under the influence of the market regulatory authorities' investigation, Shenzhen ROMOSS Technology Co., Ltd., Anker Innovations Technology Co., Ltd., and Xiaomi Communications Technology Co., Ltd. decided to recall power bank products with safety hazards, involving a total of over 1.35 million units.
As of now, ROMOSS has cumulatively recalled 167,000 power banks (accounting for 34.1% of the total recall amount), with refunds totaling 22.837 million RMB. Anker Innovations has cumulatively recalled 565,000 units (accounting for 78.7% of its total recall), completing consumer refunds of 85.664 million RMB. Xiaomi has cumulatively recalled 17,000 units (accounting for 12% of its total recall), completing consumer refunds of 2.7 million RMB.
The Quality Development Bureau of SAMR also stated that, regarding the situation where insufficient保证金 (security deposits) in ROMOSS's online store led to consumers queuing for refund registration, SAMR coordinated with relevant departments to assist ROMOSS in actively responding. As of now, the phenomenon of consumers queuing for refund registrations due to ROMOSS's capital shortage has been fully and dynamically resolved.
According to Shenzhen Government Online, starting March 1, 2025, Shenzhen's monthly minimum wage standard for full-time employees and the hourly minimum wage standard for part-time employees have been adjusted. The monthly minimum wage standard for full-time employed workers is 2,520 RMB/month. According to this standard, when employers pay living expenses to workers due to work suspension or production stoppage, from the following month onwards, the payment shall not be less than 80% of the local minimum wage standard, i.e., not less than 2,016 RMB/month.
Recently, according to Qichacha APP, the status of multiple compulsory product certification (CCC certificate) certificates for fast-charging power banks of Shenzhen ROMOSS Technology Co., Ltd. has been changed to "Revoked". Previously, after ROMOSS was deeply mired in safety issues, the status of multiple fast-charging power bank CCC certificates under its name was changed to "Suspended". Currently, ROMOSS still has multiple CCC certificates in a suspended status and they have not been reinstated.
