
Commissioner of China National Intellectual Property Administration Attends China-EU IP Office Cooperation Meeting
According to the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), recently, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of CNIPA, led a delegation to Portugal at the invitation to attend the 40th Anniversary of Cooperation between the CNIPA and the European Patent Office (EPO) and the 19th EPO-CNIPA Heads Meeting. The delegation also conducted a working visit to the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry.
During the visit to Portugal, Commissioner Shen Changyu held talks with EPO President António Campinos. The two sides reviewed the achievements made in the four decades of cooperation between the offices and exchanged views on future collaboration. Shen Changyu noted that, within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the cooperation between the two offices has yielded fruitful results. Looking ahead, he expressed confidence that the collaboration will become even closer, better serving innovators and intellectual property users in China and Europe. António Campinos stated that the cooperation between the two offices is pragmatic and robust. The European side is willing to work with the Chinese side to jointly elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to a new level. Following the meeting, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement in the classification field.
During the stay in Italy, the delegation visited the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry. The two sides exchanged views on the latest developments and work progress in the field of geographical indications (GIs) between China and Italy and discussed the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and next steps for cooperation. The delegation also visited the Italian Geographical Indications Products Industry Alliance and relevant production enterprises, where they held discussions on topics such as the protection and promotion of geographical indications.
