South Korea in Talks with China Regarding Countermeasures Against Hanwha Ocean's US Subsidiaries, Foreign Ministry Responds

On October 15, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian presided over the regular press conference. On October 14, China's Ministry of Commerce, in response to the US Section 301 investigation measures against China's maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding industries, announced the "Decision on Countermeasures Against Five US-Related Subsidiaries of Hanwha Ocean Co., Ltd.", which will take effect from October 14, 2025. An AFP reporter asked about this matter, noting that South Korea has stated it is negotiating with China to minimize the impact of China's measures against South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean and its US-linked subsidiaries. What is China's response? Additionally, South Korean media reported that the South Korean side stated such sanctions may be related to tensions between China and the US. What is China's comment on this?

Lin Jian responded: "Yesterday, China's competent authorities have already responded to the relevant questions. You may refer to that. We once again urge the US and relevant companies to respect the facts and multilateral economic and trade rules, abide by the principles of market economy and fair competition, correct the wrong practices as soon as possible, and stop harming China's interests."
