Quantum Technology Included in the 15th Five-Year Plan, Entering Period of Full Industrial Chain Layout

Recently, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China released its proposal for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development. It pointed out the need to strategically lay out future industries, explore multiple technological pathways, typical application scenarios, feasible business models, and market supervision rules, and promote quantum technology, among others, to become new economic growth points.

Quantum communication is regarded as a crucial pillar of future information science, capable of breaking through the performance limits of classical communication to achieve more efficient and secure information transmission.

Achieving systematic breakthroughs in the field of quantum technology, forming a self-sufficient and controllable quantum technology system, and promoting the quantum industry as a new growth pole for the future economy will also provide strategic support for national information security, the upgrade of the digital economy, and the enhancement of overall national strength.

"Quantum technology has long been a strategic direction for the nation in science and technology. Its inclusion in the '15th Five-Year Plan' indicates that the country is deepening its layout in this field, advancing step by step. The industry has now reached a critical period of accelerated promotion and formation of future emerging industries," a quantum technology expert told Yicai.

The expert added that the quantum technology field is currently entering a period of full industrial chain layout, rather than being a "solo act" by individual research institutions and quantum technology companies.

The field of quantum technology involves quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum precision measurement. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China also achieved multiple major technological breakthroughs in the quantum field, with a cluster of significant outcomes such as "Mozi," "Jiu Zhang," and "Zuchongzhi" emerging集中. Quantum technology has achieved a historic leap from following and running in parallel to leading in some areas, and the systematic capability for quantum technology development is being steadily established.
