Trump Claims China is "Secretly Testing Nuclear Weapons," Foreign Ministry Responds
On November 3, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning presided over the regular press conference.
An AFP reporter asked, "US President Trump said yesterday that China is secretly testing nuclear weapons. What is China's response to this?"
Mao Ning stated, "As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a responsible nuclear-weapon state, China has always adhered to the path of peaceful development, followed the policy of no first use of nuclear weapons, upheld a nuclear strategy for self-defense, and abided by the commitment to a moratorium on nuclear testing. We are willing to work with all parties to jointly uphold the authority of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and maintain the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime."
Mao Ning pointed out, "We hope the US side will also earnestly comply with its obligations under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and its commitment to the moratorium on nuclear testing, and take concrete actions to uphold the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime, as well as global strategic balance and stability."
China Agrees to Resume Group Tours for Chinese Citizens to Canada, Foreign Ministry Responds
On November 3, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning presided over the regular press conference. A reporter asked, "It is understood that China has agreed to resume group tours for Chinese citizens to Canada. What is the spokesperson's comment on this?"
Mao Ning explained that after comprehensive consideration of Chinese tourists' outbound travel needs and the local tourism environment, among other factors, China has decided to resume travel agencies' operations of group tour services for Chinese citizens to Canada. It is believed that this will further promote personnel exchanges between China and Canada and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
"We are willing to work with the Canadian side to provide more convenience for personnel exchanges between the two countries. We also hope the Canadian side will meet us halfway in providing a safe and comfortable tourism environment for Chinese tourists," Mao Ning said.
