Building a New World-Class Landmark for Water Sports

The 12th World Games (referred to as the "Chengdu World Games") is set to open in 2025. As a key venue for the water sports events of the Chengdu World Games, the Sancha Lake International Water Sports Center held an on-site promotion event on August 2, unveiling its master plan to the world and releasing a comprehensive investment opportunity list covering event partnerships, sports programs, and commercial facilities. Additionally, an award ceremony took place, with the Sancha Lake International Water Sports Center receiving honors such as "Outdoor Sports Promotion Demonstration Zone" and "New Sports Consumption Scene in Chengdu."

Located at Sancha Lake, the second-largest artificial lake in Sichuan Province, the center boasts a water area of 27 square kilometers, a 240-kilometer shoreline, 113 islands, and over 160 peninsulas, earning it the reputation as the "Pearl of Tianfu with a Thousand Islands." As one of the few freshwater lakes in China capable of hosting international-level competitions, Sancha Lake offers significant advantages for water sports events and operations. Its vast water surface, excellent water quality, and stable currents meet the demands of large-scale competitions, while its winding shoreline allows for diverse racecourse designs, perfectly catering to competition needs.

"We chose to establish our presence at the Sancha Lake International Water Sports Center based on its market potential and operational strengths. More importantly, the strong synergy among businesses here has already attracted numerous water sports-related companies," said a representative from Golden Panda (Chengdu) Sports Culture Communication Co., Ltd. Since its opening, the Golden Panda Water Leisure Sports Center has seen a steady increase in visitors, ranging from first-time tourists to professional athletes. The event garnered enthusiastic responses, with multiple companies expressing cooperation intent, and some projects already reaching the signing stage.

As a key venue for the Chengdu World Games' water sports events, Chengdu Eastern New District has leveraged the event preparations to capitalize on Sancha Lake's natural advantages. Several water sports facilities, including the Golden Panda Water Leisure Sports Center and the EWAVE Water Sports Center, have been completed and opened to the public. Now, the Sancha Lake International Water Sports Center has taken shape and is actively promoting the integrated development of culture, commerce, tourism, and sports. In just a few days, the center will host four World Games events—power surfing, cable wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and wakeboarding—marking its grand debut on the global stage.

A representative from the Chengdu Eastern New District Education, Health, and Culture-Tourism-Sports Bureau stated that after the games, Tianfu Olympic Sports Park plans to open professional competition venues to the public, allowing citizens to experience the same equipment used in international events and enjoy the thrill of water sports. Additionally, the district will integrate surrounding accommodation, dining, and shopping resources to create more culture-commerce-tourism-sports hybrid spaces and launch "event + tourism" themed routes, effectively converting event traffic into revenue growth for the Sancha Lake International Water Sports Center and maximizing the value of event resources. Notably, the professional cable wakeboarding facilities will be preserved as a legacy of the World Games, continuing operations post-event and seamlessly transitioning into a public leisure destination.
