NRTA: China's Radio, TV, and Online Audiovisual Programs Generate Over $63 Billion in Annual Overseas Revenue

According to the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA), during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China has continuously strengthened its international communication capabilities, using engaging audiovisual content to tell China’s stories well and share China’s voice effectively. A large number of works, such as Minning Town and To the Wonder, have been distributed overseas. Particularly, Chinese micro-dramas have gained global popularity, sparking a "China trend" abroad. Watching Chinese TV series and programs has become a new trend in many countries and regions worldwide.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the export scale of radio, TV, and online audiovisual programs and services increased by over 40%. International versions of China’s audiovisual platforms have reached more than 200 countries and regions, generating annual overseas revenue exceeding $63 billion. More than 300 Chinese micro-drama apps have been launched on overseas platforms.

Throughout the 14th Five-Year Plan period, outstanding audiovisual works from over 30 countries and regions have been broadcast in China each year. Documentaries like Roman Masters and TV series such as Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office have garnered widespread attention. Recently, a series of foreign anti-fascist themed works have been broadcast intensively, reflecting the global shared expectation for peace and justice.

The NRTA has extensively engaged in international exchanges and cooperation, signing cooperation agreements or memorandums with 91 countries and 4 international organizations, significantly promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning among civilizations.
