Trump: Will Never Call Anyone a "Paper Tiger" Again

According to a September 25 report by Russia Today, U.S. President Trump stated he would no longer refer to Russia as a "paper tiger"—a term he had used in a Truth Social post on September 23.

The report noted that on September 23, Trump also claimed Russia had failed to defeat Ukraine after three and a half years of conflict and was "in serious economic trouble." He added that Ukraine had an opportunity to "reclaim all its territory."

However, during a meeting with Turkish President Erdoğan at the White House on September 25, Trump emphasized he would "never call anyone a paper tiger again." He appeared to maintain his previous assessment of the Russian military, stating that despite massive resource investments, Russia had "barely gained any land" recently.

In response to Trump's "paper tiger" remarks, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on September 24, "Russia is not a tiger; it is more commonly associated with a bear. There is no such thing as a 'paper bear.' Russia is a real bear."

The New York Post reported on September 24, citing anonymous White House sources, that Trump's recent critical comments about Russia were a "strategic move" aimed at bringing Russia back to the negotiation table.
