At a press conference held by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) today, Li Chao, Deputy Director of the NDRC's Policy Research Office and spokesperson, stated that the current economic operation still faces many risks and challenges, the external environment remains severe and complex, and the foundation for economic recovery and improvement still needs further consolidation. Li Chao, Deputy Director of the Policy Research Office of the National Development and Reform Commission and spokesperson, said on September 29 that in August, driven by factors including sustained macro-policy efforts, China's economic operation remained generally stable. On the supply side, production grew steadily, with key sectors in manufacturing and services showing good growth momentum. On the demand side, policy effects continued to manifest, demonstrating strong resilience and anti-pressure capacity. In terms of consumption, retail sales related to trade-in programs maintained rapid growth. However, the current economic operation still faces many risks and challenges, the external environment remains severe and complex, and the foundation for economic recovery and improvement still needs further consolidation. In the next step, the NDRC will make sustained efforts and intensify the implementation of macro policies at an appropriate time. Simultaneously, the NDRC will continue to strengthen economic monitoring, forecasting, and early warning, prepare policy reserves through preliminary research, and roll them out promptly according to changing circumstances.

Li Chao stated that the NDRC, together with relevant departments, will promote the accelerated application and adoption of a new generation of smart terminals and agents from three aspects. First, strengthen the construction of a policy environment with clear orientation, respect for规律 (guīlǜ - laws/rules), and standardized development, and formulate policy guidelines. Second, collaboratively promote technological breakthroughs and open sharing, accelerate the pace of innovation, and support AI enterprises and leading enterprises in various industries to carry out collaborative innovation. Third, exert simultaneous efforts on both supply and demand sides to promote market expansion. On the supply side, focusing on key areas such as AI + education, healthcare, elderly care, and transportation, support enterprises in actively conducting pilots and demonstrations to create more new products and applications that are practical, user-friendly, and loved by users. On the demand side, leverage the advantage of China's ultra-large market, use the opening of industry application scenarios as a牵引 (qiānyǐn - traction/pulling force), innovate methods of consumption subsidies, and accelerate the empowerment of all industries and millions of households by smart terminals and agents.
