Foreign Media: US Official Confirms Early Dissolution of "Department of Government Efficiency"

According to a Reuters report on the 23rd, the US "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE) has been dissolved approximately eight months before its contract was set to expire. The Director of the US Office of Personnel Management confirmed that it "no longer exists."

Reuters noted that this is the first public comment from the Trump administration regarding the termination of the "Department of Government Efficiency." The Guardian stated that this confirmation validates long-standing speculation that the DOGE, established by an executive order signed by Trump on his first day in office, is now being phased out.

According to previous reports, on January 20, Trump announced in his presidential inauguration speech the establishment of the "Department of Government Efficiency" to restore the federal government's capacity and efficiency. The department, led by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, aimed to significantly reduce federal spending. However, it was not a government agency and had almost no authority to implement institutional reforms.

Under Trump's executive order, the "Department of Government Efficiency" was supposed to remain operational until July 2026. However, since this summer, speculation about its possible dissolution began to emerge.

In June, POLITICO reported that staff of the "Department of Government Efficiency" had packed their belongings, vacated the department's long-term headquarters, and begun searching for new accommodations. It has been reported that some employees have already transitioned to new roles.
