On August 8, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation website, BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. and BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. have filed a recall plan with the National Market Regulation Administration in accordance with the "Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls" and the "Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls."
Recall No. S2025M0120V: Effective immediately, 1 imported 5 Series vehicle produced on November 26, 2024, is being recalled.

Recall No. S2025M0121V: Effective immediately, 379 domestically produced X5 vehicles manufactured between July 20, 2024, and December 19, 2024, are being recalled, along with 1,012 domestically produced 5 Series vehicles manufactured between July 18, 2024, and January 6, 2025.
Some of the affected vehicles may have starter generators with improperly manufactured power connectors, leading to loose connections between the starter generator’s positive terminal and the 48V harness’s positive terminal, resulting in abnormally increased resistance. In extreme cases, this may cause engine stalling while driving or fire due to overheating in the engine compartment, posing a safety risk.
BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. and BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. will inspect the starter generators of the recalled vehicles free of charge and replace them if necessary. Related cables will also be inspected and repaired or replaced as needed to eliminate the safety hazard.
This recall is an expansion of the recall announced on May 9, 2025, titled "BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. and BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. Recall Certain Imported and Domestically Produced Vehicles."

Some of the affected vehicles may experience unintended shutdowns of the high-voltage system due to issues with the insulation fault monitoring mechanism under specific conditions. This could result in a loss of power in the electric drive unit, increasing the risk of a collision and posing a safety hazard.
BMW (China) Automotive Trading Co., Ltd. and BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. will provide free software upgrades for the recalled vehicles to eliminate the safety hazard.
