Foreign Media: Trump Claims India Has Pledged to Halt Purchases of Russian Oil
According to an AFP report on October 15, Trump stated on the 15th that Indian Prime Minister Modi had assured him that New Delhi would stop buying Russian oil. This came after Trump imposed punitive tariffs on India.
The report mentioned that the Republican leader, responding to reporters' questions at the White House, said, "I was unhappy with India buying oil, and he assured me today that they will not buy oil from Russia."
He added, "This is a major step forward."
The report stated that the U.S. President said, "You can't do it immediately. The process will take some time, but it will be completed soon."
India did not immediately confirm this.
The report noted that the United States is currently India's largest trading partner.
